Not exactly your everyday tax topic here, but an Arizona tax update nonetheless!
Effective August 1, 2010, Paradise Valley will increase the additional tax on hotels and motels to 3.4% from 3% and Payson will increase the additional tax on hotels and motels to 5% from 3%.
Effective September 1, 2010, Benson will increase the additional tax on hotels and motels to 4% from 2% and St. Johns will remove will remove the two-tier tax on any single item of tangible personal property that is subject to transaction privilege or use tax.
I mentioned in a prior post that there is now a one-time transaction privilege tax license renewal fee of $40 for all licensees who hold a valid license issued before July 1, 2009.
Businesses will receive an invoice in the mail, so do not attempt to pay the fee until is received. The fee must be paid within 14 days or the missed payment will result in the cancellation of the license.
Right about now, second quarter payroll is coming due as well, don’t forget about the new 941 that is revised because of the HIRE act.
